Tips On How To Write an Emotionally Appealing Letter
The market is recovering, and multiple offers are on the rise. It seems as if things are going back to the "old days" where folks are starting to write letters to sellers again. Yet it is still a small amount of buyers who are taking this action. Why not be one of them?
Not sure how? Here are some tips for how you can write a solid letter, that will reach the seller emotionally, so that there is no way that they will not consider your offer.
Pen To Paper: Given that everything is done electronically these days, it strips a lot of meaning in what we are doing. When you put pen to paper, and write the sellers a handwritten letter, I guarantee your offer will standout.
Acknowledgement: Tell the seller's what you noticed about the home. For example: How well maintained the house is, how nicely they have taken care of certain things. If there is a specific feature you love, talk about that. Is there a water feature outside that makes you feel relaxed while viewing the home? Try to be specific in your compliments and acknowledgement.
About You: Always start out the letter about the seller's house, and then you can share a little about you. This is where you can share your story. There is no need to go overboard here, but there are a few things you can add that will soften the sellers' hearts. If the sellers have raised children in the home, feel free to share the names and ages of your kids, and how you see raising them there yourself. Try to find some common ground, and speak into those commonalities.
Small Tip: Include how long you have been looking, and how you know that this is the perfect house for you.
Sincerity: Talk about your commitment to the house and that you are willing to do whatever it takes to land it. Try to really come from your own heart! When you are sincere, you can't go wrong.
Keep it short and sweet, don't over compliment, and try to find a smooth balance in your letter. Lastly, don't expect your letter to bridge the gap if you are $40,000 off from other offer. If you really want this house, you have to step up in every way.
And don't forget to always listen to your instincts in this process!
